Copper is ranked as the third metal most consumed by the industry in the world, second only to aluminum and iron. About 3/4 of the use of copper is geared toward the manufacture of electrical wires, telecommunication cables and electronics. The metal is ductile and malleable and conducts heat and electricity well, explaining its use in electronics and wiring.
